Natalie Portman Cast in Thor as Leading Lady

natalie-portman(CHRISHEMSWORTH.ORG) – The rumors have been swirling for months regarding a possible role for Natalie Portman in the live action adaption of Thor.  When Jessica Biel was mentioned as a possibl cast member, we were thrown for a loop until it was confirmed today that Natalie Portman has been cast as the leading love interest of Thor.

Natalie Portman will portray the role of Jane Foster, a nurse in the Thor comic dating back to as early as 1962.  Marvel reports that “the character will be updated for the feature adaptation” considering Thor’s alter ego, Donald Blake, has been writen out of the script.

Jessica Biel in Talks for Casting

(CHRISHEMSWORTH.ORG) – Nuke the Fridge is reporting that Jessica Biel is currently in talks to play the role of the female love interest  in the upcoming film adaptation of Thor, featuring Chris Hemsworth in the lead role.

The likely role would be Jane Foster, the girlfriend of Donald Blake – Thor’s human alter-ego.  It’s rumored that she would play the Enchantress or Lady Sif, also from the Marvel Universe.  Natalie Portman was previously rumored to be the leading lady for this film.

Thor Logo Previewed

(CHRISHEMSWORTH.ORG) – Marvel Comics released preview images of their timeline along with logos for the films expected to be released in the next 3 years including: Iron Man 2 in May 2010, Thor in May 2011, and The First Avenger: Captain America in July 2011, with The Avengers to follow in Summer 2012.

Last weekend, the Marvel Comics president of production, Kevin Feige unveiled tidbits about each project at an industry conference.  No old world language (Shakespearean dialogue) per the wishes of director Kenneth Branagh.  Also, unexpected is that there will be no Don Blake, Thor’s alter ego!   The film will primarily be set on Earth with some scenes in Asgard.

Brian Blessed Cast as Thor’s Father, Odin

(CHRISHEMSWORTH.ORG) – Word has leaked that Brian Blessed has been cast in the role of  Thor’s father, Odin.

Brian Blessed is not a familiar name but did play a big role as the leader of the Hawk Men in the 1980’s film, “Flash Gordon.”

Chris Hemsworth vs. Liam for Thor Role

(CHRISHEMSWORTH.ORG) – The role has yet to be confirmed by Marvel Studios, but both brothers Chris and Liam competed for the role until the offer was given to Chris Hemsworth.

Chris Hemsworth plays George Kirk, the father of Captain Kirk in Star Trek.

Also, rumored is that Daniel Craig supposedly declined the role leaving it wide open for Chris Hemsworth and his brother.

Tom Hiddleston Cast as Thor’s Nemesis, Loki

(CHRISHEMSWORTH.ORG) – Tom Hiddleston, a relatively unknown English actor, was cast as Loki in the Marvel Comics live adapation of Thor.  It’s been written that director Branagh believed Hiddleston would be a good fit to play Loki, the brother and nemsesis of Thor. Loki is the “God of Mischief” and was banished from the kingdom of Asgard by their father Odin.

Chris Hemsworth Lead in Red Dawn Remake

soviet-union(CHRISHEMSWORTH.ORG) – The 1984 film Red Dawn is getting a 21st century makeover and Chris Hemsworth has been cast as the lead.

The film is about a group of teens that resist a Russian invasion of the United States.  The movie will be directed by Dan Bradley, who has done work in Quantum of Solice and The Bourne Ultimatum.

“The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we’re in. As Red Dawn scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?” said script writer Carl Ellsworth.

Chris Hemsworth Cast as Thor

Thor(CHRISHEMSWORTH.ORG) – It’s been leaked that Chris Hemsworth may have the lead role to portray Thor in the live action film. According to Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood, Hemsworth is set to play the Norse God of Thunder.

This was a big week for Hemsworth since he’s also been been cast as the lead in the Red Dawn remake.

As of this writing, Chris Hemsworth has yet to be officially announced by Marvel Comics to play Thor but according to Variety, he is in final negotations.
